How To Grow Long, Shiny, Healthy Hair
Author: steve (10:55 am)
by: Janice Johnson
Many men and women complain that their hair is not growing. They buy the most popular hair products, which promise more shine and growth. They buy supplements and read magazines looking for the next quick fix. But what many men and women fail to realize it that the way they treat their bodies plays an enormous role in the state of their hair.
Here are some helpful tips to help grow healthier hair:
Consume a diet high in vital nutrients mainly beta carotene, iodine and protein are necessary for shiny healthy hair.
Iodine is necessary for the production of the thyroid hormone thyroxin. This hormone promotes hair growth. The foods that contain iodine are seafoods like cod, mussels, seaweed and haddock.
Beta Carotene is actually converted by the body into vitamin A which makes the hair strong. You can find it in green and yellow fruits and vegetables like green peppers and cantaloupes.
Protein can be found in foods like meat, eggs and nuts to name a few.
Also, try to exercise weekly. This helps improve the circulation while getting your body in shape and making your body “work” better.
The hormones and healthy chemical processes taking place in your body during your workout sessions, assist in overall health.
Get out! Well, I’m not saying this rudely. But rather literally. Get out of the house more often and get some sun. If you’re at the office during the day, take a short walk outside on your lunch break. Studies have shown that healthy doses of vitamin D received from the sun actually plays a role in hair growth. But don’t forget to protect your hair and scalp at all times.
Always apply a sunscreen lotion to your skin and wear a hat if you’re outside for long periods of time. If you’re not wearing a hat a great tip is applying some sunscreen lotion to the exposed skin on your scalp. This will keep the area from getting burned.
Remember, take care of your hair and skin. You’ll be thankful in years to come!

How to Enhance Your Hair Growth
Author: steve (10:50 am)
by: Marquetta Breslin
Hair is essentially a dead protein and thus to maintain a healthy hairline you should take adequate amount of proteins in your diet. Amino acids are the main constituents of proteins. Five kinds of amino acids are needed for hair growth namely, methionine, arginine, cystine, cysteine and lysine. When your body does not get adequate supply of proteins for long, the hair may come under a resting phase.
Another important constituent of your daily diet is carbohydrate. It facilitates the growth of body tissues and provides a rich source of vitamin B crucial for healthy hair. You have to see that your body has an ample supply of non-refined carbohydrates, essential for healthy hair growth. Whole grains, brown rice, potatoes and vegetables are rich sources of carbohydrate.
The right nutritional balance is vital for normal healthy hair growth. While you pay attention to protein and carbohydrate intake, you should not overlook the necessity of dietary fats. The body requires it for energy production, to keep it healthy. Some of the ways to maintain good health and eventually healthy hair is to follow a diet regime like taking various foods, preferring lightly processed food on overcooked ones and eating junk food in negligible amount.
Apart from maintaining the nutritional balance, other factors may also have adverse affect on hair growth. Stress is yet another cause that retards the hair growth. Besides, some medications though necessary to combat physical ailments can also be the underlying cause of your depleting hairline. These factors may act as strong growth blockers.
Before you go for any vitamin or herbal program, it is good to consult a doctor. One of the most favorite hair-growing tips is to follow a zone diet that has low fat content. Thus, look for suitable methods to ensure fine hair growth.

Hair Nutrition- Diet for Healthy Hair
Author: steve (10:10 am)
by: Marquetta Breslin
If you do not yet feel enough motivated to have a balanced diet then temptation of healthy lustrous hair may convince you for it. Nutritional deficiencies can make the hair stringy, dull and dry.
If your hair loss results from nutritional deficiency, you can bring it under control through adequate nutritional supply. Your hair is sensitive to what you eat. A study based on the effect of crash diets has revealed that people undergoing such diet regime may experience temporary hair loss because of poor nutritional supply.
Zinc plays a vital role in maintaining good hair condition. Its deficiency often results in poor hair growth and considerable hair loss. Similarly, people who prefer to have low or no fat diets also run the risk of hair loss, as essential fatty acids are an important constituent of healthy hair. While biotin has often been marketed to help people suffering from pattern-baldness, any direct relationship between the two is yet to be established. If you feel the problem behind your hair loss is nutritional imbalance, you can consult a dietician for the right suggestion.
Tips for Healthy Hair
1. You may think that harping on a particular nutrient may work wonders on your hair, a wholesome diet is better recommended.
2. Intake of green leafy vegetables and hair friendly spices like turmeric and cumin help you get healthy and lustrous hair.
3. Various fruits in your diet suffice different nutritional needs and keep your hair in good condition.
4. Using fresh coconut paste over the hair and scalp helps to nourish it and makes your hair eye-catching. Going for natural remedies protects the hair from the effects of harsh chemicals as well.
Thus, a balanced nutritious diet and the right eating habits are the two factors that make your hair vibrant and healthy.

Why do people suffer from Hair Loss?
Author: steve (3:12 am)
by: Rachel Stepsen
You do not usually end life with the same bunch of hair that you grew up with when you were born. Unlike the eyes or nose, your hair keeps regenerating, shedding and growing.
As you turn older, you start experiencing hair loss. This natural process of ageing starts when you turn 50. However, for some people the process starts much earlier. This article examines the various causes of hair loss in men and women.
#1 Stress and Lifestyle
The fast and hurried lifestyles of today make many compromises on your diet. Emotional upheavals can cause health complications that have an adverse impact on the quality of your hair. Lack of cleanliness of the scalp and excessive dandruff problems can also cause hair loss.
#2 Hormonal imbalances
Hair growth and health depends on hormones such as thyroid and pituitary glands. Any disorders in these glands can cause hair loss. The excessive presence of a component of the male hormone - DHT can also cause hair loss. This is a genetic predisposition.
#3 Genetic factors
Inherited causes of hair loss effect the unlucky that have a family history of premature balding. In men, it is called Male Pattern Baldness, in which the hair starts receding first at the temples in a classic ‘M’ shape. In women, it is called Female Pattern Baldness. This is less common. It starts at age 30 and is characterized by overall thinning of hair.
#4 Side effects
Certain drugs taken for other purposes can cause hair loss as a side effect. The following is a possible list of medicines and drugs that could cause hair loss.
Cholesterol-lowering drugs Ulcer drugs Anticoagulants Agents for gout Drugs derived from Vitamin A Anticonvulsants taken for epilepsy Antidepressants Blood thinners Anabolic steroids Chemotherapy Drugs
However, not all prescription drugs under these categories have hair loss as a side effect. This has to be checked with the doctor.
#5 Other factors
Research is being continuously conducted on the causes and solutions for hair loss. Recently, Japanese scientists concluded from studies that excessive sebum could clog the hair roots and cause hair loss. An excessive intake of some nutrients such as Vitamins A and E can actually promote hair loss.
There is no dearth of solutions, prescriptions and treatments available for hair loss. Every once in a while, a new ‘wonder’ drug such as Rogaine will enter the market. Not every solution will cure hair loss. The correct diagnosis has to be made before deciding on a course of action for hair loss. =========================================================== Find out what causes hair loss, and discover latest techniques and ideas for effective hair loss treatment. Everything You Wanted To Know About Hair
Author: steve (3:06 am)
by: Rachel Stepsen
In order to treat hair loss successfully, it is necessary to know about hair. This article discusses general facts about human hair, hair structure and growth.
The average human adult body has an astounding 5 million hairs of which 100,000 to 150,000 are on the scalp. True blondes have more hair on the scalp - 140,000 hairs than brunettes (105,000 hairs) or redheads (90,000 hairs). Hair is made up of a protein called Keratin. Keratin is also a constituent of our nails.
* Hair around the world
Hair color and texture differ around the world. Asians have jet-black hair whereas Scandinavians have varying shades of browns and reds to the pale blonde. There are generally three racial groups with three types of hair.
1.Oriental - People from Japan and China have straight and black hair.
2.Caucasoid - This group is varied and a mixture of several racial groups. The hair colors range from black to blonde. The hair can be wavy or straight.
3.African - African people have black hair that is tightly curled. It is woolly and dry. Heat or chemicals can easily damage this type of hair.
* Hair structure
Some part of hair is hidden under the skin, while the rest is seen outside the body. The part of hair hidden under the skin is the hair follicle. There are tiny blood vessels at the base of the follicle that provides nutrition to the hair.
Sebaceous glands secrete sebum that keeps the hair shiny and waterproof to some extent. At the root of the hair follicle is the papilla, which is where the hair grows. Hair follicles are formed when the baby is still in the womb.
After birth, there is no new growth of hair follicles. The hair strand itself consists of three layers. The outermost layer called the cuticle is thin. The middle layer called the cortex is thick. The cortex provides the hair its strength, color and determines whether hair will be wavy or straight.
* Hair Growth
The hair grows at the rate of 12 millimeters every month. Hair grows the best between 10 AM to 11 AM and again between 4 PM to 6 PM. It is also generally known that hair grows faster in summer than winter. Hair grows the best between the ages of 15 to 30 and slows down from the age of 40 onwards. Both genders start natural hair loss in 50s.
Hair rejuvenation takes place on a daily basis. Hair grows and sheds. You normally shed 50 to 100 hairs per day. Any loss above that or visible patches of baldness are a cause for worry and can be classified as hair loss. =========================================================== Find out what causes hair loss, and discover latest techniques and ideas for effective hair loss treatment. How To Nip The Problem In The Bud… Prevent Hair Loss
Author: steve (3:03 am)
by: Rachel Stepsen
Hair loss is universal problem and millions of people worldwide are suffering from some degree of hair loss. There are several cures for hair loss.
However, they do not work on all. Some types of hair loss or baldness do not respond to the treatments. Nevertheless, hair loss is preventable and good care and regular maintenance of hair can go a long way in preventing hair loss. Here are some tips to take care of your mane -
#1 Keep it Clean
Dirt and excess oil in the scalp can clog the pores, making it difficult for the hair root to receive nutrition and grow. This is a major reason for hair loss. Frequently shampoo your hair and use clean combs. Trimming of split ends is essential to prevent major hair damage.
#2 Take Care Of Diet
Ultimately, the hair, like any other body part, requires nutrition to stay healthy and grow. Malnutrition and imbalanced diet can be a major reason for hair loss. Include vitamins and minerals like calcium, magnesium, chromium, iodine, potassium, zinc and Vitamin A in your diet.
There is no need to take mega doses because they can at times be counterproductive. Evidence suggests that excess of Vitamins A and E can actually contribute to hair loss.
#3 Do Not Overdo It
Excessive exposure to heat and chemicals such as hair colors, styling products, hot iron and blow dryers can cause damage to hair and result in severe hair loss. You should use these products sparingly.
Instead of blow dryers, make time to allow your hair to dry naturally. Get your hair styled in a manner that does not require any of the above-mentioned procedures.
#4 Give Yourself A Head Massage
A gentle head massage with a hair oil helps to improve blood circulation to the hair roots and prevent hair loss. Aromatherapy recommends creating hair oil using equivalent parts of thyme, rosemary, lavender and cedar wood.
#5 Avoid Stress
Stress is damaging for the hair. Get adequate sleep and follow stress reduction techniques to prevent hair loss.
#6 Be Careful Of Medication
Certain medications such as anti-depressants, some drugs taken for epilepsy, cancer have hair loss as a side effect. Consult with your doctor before taking medication to prevent hair loss.
#7 Hormone Tests
Thyroid disorders can cause hair loss. Get hormone tests for thyroid on a regular basis.
It is rightly said that prevention is better than cure. By adopting the above-mentioned methods, you can prevent hair loss and maintain good health of your hair. =========================================================== Find out what causes hair loss, and discover latest techniques and ideas for effective hair loss treatment.
